West Ham United are ‘in pole’ position for defender Dan-Axel Zagadou, but face competition from Lyon for his signature.

That’s according to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who say there is a battle on for the defender’s signature.

Zagadou is currently a free agent after being released by Borussia Dortmund at the end of his contract in July.

He is yet to find a new club but currently has Lyon and West Ham vying for his signature, according to Hawkins.

He states that Lyon manager Peter Bosz is keen on a deal as he as he wants to strengthen his defence and Zagadou is an option because he is a free agent.

They, though, face ‘big competition’ from West Ham, who are currently ‘in pole’ as far as the race for the defender’s signature is concerned.

The Hammers are offering a four-year contract to the former Dortmund man, who turned 23 in June this year.

There’s no mention of the wages on offer, but West Ham could presumably offer more than their French counterparts. Either way, it seems they’re winning the race for the player’s signature at this moment in time.
