Earlier on Monday, we covered claims from Italy of a West Ham approach for Arkadiusz Milik.
Ciro Venerato, a journalist who specialises in Napoli, claimed agent Claudio Vigorelli had presented the Serie A club an offer from the Hammers.
That effort was said to have come ‘a few hours ago’, and it wasn’t clear if the agent was working on a direct mandate from West Ham or was instead trying to build a deal to present to the Premier League club.
Regardless of how it came about, Venerato now reports, via AreaNapoli, that the Italian club have rejected the €7m. That’s not a big surprise given that in recent weeks Aurelio De Laurentiis, the Napoli chairman, has been holding out for £15m.
A figure somewhere between the two amounts seems realistic for a January transfer, especially when it’s considered Milik’s contract expires in the summer. Marseille are also in the picture, and whilst the striker would accept a move to the French club, it’s stated they’re not keen to agree to De Laurentiis’ request of a sell-on percentage.
Juventus are now being edged out of the picture entirely, both for January and next summer, given they need to trim their wage bill.
