It’s now time for the Spanish press to say striker Pedro Mendes could be on his way to Reading in the January transfer window.
The Sporting player is having a loan spell at Segunda Division club Almeria this season, but it seems it will be cut short pretty soon.
Marca writes today that the Spanish side aren’t satisfied with Mendes’ form, and should send him back to the Lions this month.
And with the Lisbon side looking for a new destination for him, Reading are presented as the ‘best placed’ club in the race.
Marca doesn’t bring a lot more on how the talks with Reading are going. They actually explain that Mendes is having quite a disappointing time in Spain, which is something Royals’ fans probably won’t be happy to read.
Mendes’ move to the Championship side had already been claimed by the Portuguese media last week. Newspaper Record wrote that the striker ‘should proceed his career at Reading‘, as the deal is ‘well forwarded’.
