Two days ago, Sport Witness reported that Maxi Gomez of Celta Vigo was not close to joining West Ham United and the English club have not made an offer for the striker.

Saturday’s edition of Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo now brings the latest update surrounding the 22-year-old’s future, which is believed to be heading towards the Premier League.

Miguel Cardoso will be without Iago Aspas for the next three weeks due to an injury and he could also part ways with the Uruguay international before the end of this month.

This is because Manuel Pellegrini’s side have ‘made an offer’ of €35m plus €10m in variables for the player, who has a release clause of €50m in his contract that will expire in 2022.

Mundo claims the Spanish side are studying the proposal tables by the Hammers and there is no mention if Celta have made a decision on whether they will allow Gomez to leave or not after West Ham submitted an offer for him.

Gomez has scored nine goals and registered five assists in the league.
