West Ham United are yet to find a new striker after allowing Sébastien Haller to join Ajax in January 2021. He has left the Dutch club this summer and completed a move to Borussia Dortmund.

The Hammers have been credited with interest in a few strikers and their target list includes Gianluca Scamacca.

David Moyes’ side have reportedly made an offer for the Sassuolo star, and will have to fight with Paris Saint-Germain for his signature. Apart from Scamacca, they have identified Hellas Verona’s Giovanni Simeone also as a target.

Having joined the Serie A side on loan from Cagliari last summer, the 27-year-old’s stay there has been made permanent.

Calciomercato state Verona are ‘ready to evaluate offers’ for Simone in order to make an immediate capital gain this summer. Their demand for the Argentina international is about €20m.

Napoli are interested in Simeone and could lower his asking price by including one of their own players as part of the deal. They will face competition from Italy and abroad, where only Monza and West Ham are named as the ‘interested’ parties.

Simone wants to enjoy regular game time next season and this is the guarantee he wants from his next potential club.

If West Ham can satisfy Verona’s €20m demand and convince the South American he will have more prominence in London, then a deal could be concluded this summer.
