West Ham United’s interest in Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri ‘did not go further’ and develop into an actual bid, despite them selling Gianluca Scamacca.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say West Ham did not make a concerted effort to sign the striker despite show an interest in him for a third consecutive window.

The Hammers were once again linked with a move for the Moroccan striker, having tried on two previous occasions to sign him and been turned down by him.

They returned again this summer after selling Scamacca to Atalanta, with numerous report stating that talks were underway between them and Sevilla over a potential deal.

That was boosted by the suggestion that En-Nesyri was now more open to a move to West Ham than he had been previously, having turned them down on two separate occasions because he simply didn’t fancy a switch to the London Stadium.

No transfer ended up taking place, though, despite West Ham being flush with cash from the sales of Scamacca and Declan Rice.

Estadio say that despite the ‘interest’ being there once again from Moyes and his team, it ‘did not go further’. In other words, the Hammers expressed an interest but didn’t make a bid or it seems even open negotiations.

According to the newspaper Moyes instead elected to not move in the market and stuck with Danny Ings and Michail Antonio as his options while ‘betting on’ youngster Divin Mubama by promoting him from the reserves.

Whether that’s a decision which comes back to haunt him, it certainly hasn’t up to this point, remains to be seen but what is clear is that En-Nesyri was no closer to joining West Ham this summer than he has been on the previous two occasions they have actually tried to get him.
