Paul Onuachu will end up regretting his move to Southampton, as he continues to be left out by the Saints.

That’s according to Johan Boskamp, who also believes that former club Genk will now regret sanctioning the sale of their former star man.

Onuachu joined Southampton in the January transfer window after an impressive few years that saw him score 85 goals and register ten assists in 134 games for the club.

That followed an equally impressive spell at FC Midtjylland where he had managed 74 goals and 23 assists in 179 games for the club.

The hope was that he could score the goals to help Southampton avoid relegation but that did not prove to be the case, with him not managing a single goal or assist in 12 games before the end of the season.

He now finds himself on the outside of the Southampton squad, with new manager Russel Martin electing not to use him in the Championship and only handing him one 22-minute appearance in the EFL Cup.

The striker had been expected to leave in the summer transfer window and is currently negotiating a potential move to Turkey in an attempt to get back on track somewhere new.

There is an acceptance now that the move to England, which was a dream one for him, has actually been a nightmare and Boskamp believes there will be regret all round.

“Onuachu? Gosh, that boy will regret his transfer to England,” he said in Het Belang van Limburg.

“The same applies to Genk, even though it has earned them a lot of money. Tolu scored an important goal last weekend, but it is no Onuachu.”
