Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is of interest to West Ham United, who recently travelled to the Mestalla to watch the 22-year-old.

That’s according to AS, who say the Hammers are one of the clubs eyeing up the goalkeeper after his performances in La Liga this season.

They explain that Valencia’s ongoing financial issues off the pitch, which are being compounded by the fact they don’t know if they’ll be relegated this season, means that they are looking at sales for the summer.

Mamardashvili is one of the more saleable assets in the squad and the Spanish side are aware he is ‘on the radar’ of several Premier League clubs, including West Ham.

They have followed him live in various games this season and according to the newspaper West Ham were at the Mestalla ‘last weekend’ to watch him again.

His agents are also believed to have travelled to London this week for talks with clubs, a claim first made in Georgian media and later backed up in Spain.

Whether they held talks with the Hammers isn’t stated specifically, though.

They are seemingly interested in the player nonetheless and could make their move for him at the end of the season as a potential long-term successor to Lukasz Fabianski.
