Besiktas were looking to bring in a winger to help them both in the league and Europe and their short list was topped by Gokhan Tore.

The attacker is currently on loan from West Ham after playing under Slaven Bilic in Turkey. Besiktas were hoping the 24-year old Turkish international would return to the Vodafone Arena to ease the pressure on Ricardo Quaresma.

However, HaberTurkSpor are reporting Besiktas are giving up bringing Tore back because of the player’s injury problems this season. Tore is currently out of the West Ham side for about 6 weeks because of a leg problem and some muscle issues.

Despite this 6 week lay-off HaberTurk report Tore’s problem is far worse than expected due to a problem with his knee cartilage.

It’s claimed West Ham doctors recently detected the problem with the winger, and the issue is responsible for his extended time out of the game, and is so serious it’s been known to be career ending for some footballers. That just sounds like HaberTurk putting in a very unlikely worst case scenario, for drama.

After learning of the injury issue, Besiktas president Fikret Orman subsequently pulled out of a deal to bring Tore back to club, and he’s now looking for other alternatives. Contrary to latest reports, HaberTurk say Tore is not keen on a Besiktas return and even though he met Orman a couple times in London a move back to Turkey was never discussed.

The claims from Turkey appear to be contradicting themselves on Tore, one week he’s really keen on a Besiktas return, and the next he’s not. It’ll be interesting to see how correct they are about the injury situation.
