Pontus Jansson is currently away with the Swedish national team and that usually means lots of talking about his love for Malmo and connections with the club, and questions about his future at Leeds United.
In Sweden it’s thought Leeds United are fortunate to have Jansson considering they’re in the Championship, and that’s often where quesitons about the player’s future start.
Last year all the Southampton rumours and the big doubt over Jansson’s future were encouraged by the Swedish media and it would be no surprise to see that again ahead of, and during, the summer transfer window.
Swedish newspaper Expressen today have an article on Jansson and Malmo, and the club getting to a cup final, something the Leeds’ player is clearly chuffed about.
On Leeds United, Expressen say the 27 year old wants to know what the Championship club have got planned for next season, and they quote him as saying: “We’ll see what happens, I want to hear from the club about how it’s going to look next year and so on.”
Reading between the lines, it appears Jansson is keen to know Leeds United’s ambitions, and what the club plans to do about them, before making a decision on his future.
Should the defender leave then Leeds would expect a good fee, having only extended his contract in October.
