Norway U21 international Nikolai Hopland has publicly expressed his dream to join Leeds United in the future.
In the last window, the centre-back joined SC Heerenveen from Norwegian side Aalesunds FK on a loan deal. He made nine appearances in all competitions this season.
Voetbal International had a chat with the 20-year-old where he explained how he ended up supporting the Whites. Their title says ‘Not Barca or Real [Madrid], but Leeds’ are his dream destination.
The defender claims he’s been supporting the Championship side from his childhood. This is because of his father, who has been following Leeds for a long time.
Voetbal International state most of the footballers dream to join Real Madrid, Barcelona or another top European clubs. This indicates the Dutch outlet are surprised with Hopland’s decision to pick Daniel Farke’s side, and the player insists they are not alone.
“People often laugh when I say this, but since I was four it has always been Leeds. I went that way about 20 times with my father,” he said.
“I think I have every jersey they’ve had in the last 15 years in my closet and still watch almost every game, if our own schedule makes it possible.”
The youngster left his country for the first time when he moved to the Eredivisie side in September. He is determined to fulfil his dream of representing Leeds at some stage of his playing career.
“A really great club. It is my dream to play for that one day and I will do everything I can to make that dream come true,” Hopland explained.
