It’s been a couple of years since Arsenal started being linked to Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira.

Even though the Gunners were never said to be in advanced negotiations for the player, the club has always been mentioned as one of the pretenders to take the talented 26-year-old.

In the past few months, we’ve not only seen Arsenal in the list of interested sides, but there has also been reports of club emissaries keeping an eye on him in Portugal.

But there may be a reason why the stories about Danilo’s departure are never big news in the country. That’s because the player isn’t very keen on forcing his way out of Porto.

Danilo has spoken to O Jogo, and when asked if he will return to the club after the World Cup, he didn’t feed any rumours about his departure to another league.

“Yes. I have a contract until 2022, and if I renewed it, it’s because I’m good here,” Danilo told O Jogo.

“If a club give us what we want, that is stability and passion in what we do, it’s good to continue. There’s no reason to leave if it is not for a much better thing. I’ve never been to a club that gave me so much and I like to give back what they give me, so I will never be ungrateful to FC Porto.”

Recent claims have put Paris Saint Germain and the Manchester Clubs along with Arsenal in the race. That means it should cost a lot to take Danilo from Porto, as his €60m release clause is very likely to be the tag-price.
