A couple of days ago, we covered a story from the Portuguese press which said Arsenal have been watching Danilo Pereira from Porto again.

Arsene Wenger is said to have been following the midfielder for years, and would now be preparing an offer to finally bring him to London.

Danilo is one of the players frequently linked to top sides in Europe, especially in England, and it didn’t take much time for the next rumour to show up.

This Thursday, Correio da Manhã has a story about the player, explaining he’s really wanted by several ‘sharks’ from the transfer market.

It’s Paris Saint Germain who would be on top of the list, followed by Arsenal and the ‘Manchester clubs’.

PSG would have the advantage because they are signing Wendel from Brazilian side Fluminense and sending him over to Porto on a loan deal, so that could be part of Danilo’s transfer.

Either way, Danilo has a €60m release clause, and clubs won’t get him unless they pay a decent fee. As Porto only own 80% of his rights, it’s unlikely that they will concede a big discount.

At least in Correio da Manhã’s story, there’s no sign that any of these clubs are very close to making an offer, or even in talks for the midfielder. So there’s still no reason to believe that this saga is going anywhere just yet.
