Having spent the first part of the season out on loan at New York Red Bull, Jorge Cabezas returned to Watford at the end of December and will be heading to League Two, to Gillingham FC, for the rest of the campaign.

That’s according to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, who took to X, formerly Twitter, to reveal the news to his followers.

Hurtado was initially bought last January from Real Cartagena by Watford, and was then sent out on loan to Independiente Medellín.

This was all in hope of him getting some football under his belt, and the same will be expected at Gillingham FC, who needed a striker.

The deal between Watford and the Gills is a six-month loan with no option to buy, meaning the 20-year-old will return to Vicarage Road at the end of the season.

For Gillingham, this will be a transfer in hope the young forward can help fire them up the table, as they currently sit 10th after 28 games, only six points behind the first playoff spot, currently occupied by MK Dons.
