Watford’s new signing Yaser Asprilla isn’t joining the club for now, according to reports.

Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra comes up with exclusive claims on Twitter to say the player is set to stay in his country for six more months.

Asprilla will continue at his club Envigado, this time on a loan from the Hornets, and there are already ‘papers signed’ for the spell.

His stay in Colombia is said to be a request from the midfielder himself, who wants a little more playing time with his first club before completing the move to the Premier League.

There was not a lot of drama surrounding Watford’s desire to sign Asprilla, as reports soon quickly confirmed that the Hornets would be paying Envigado around €3m to get the transfer done.

The player’s immediate future, however, was always in doubt, since he’d be unlikely to get many minutes for the Premier League side this season, and that’s probably why he asked to stay in South America for a little longer.
