After failing to land Gerard Deulofeu in January, the Watford winger has still been on Milan’s radar.
Last month, Calciomercato reported the 25-year-old was the ‘concrete option’ for the Rossoneri and the Spaniard had already say ‘yes’ to join the Serie A side.
Even though there was no agreement between the two clubs for a transfer, the former Everton man continued to be a target for the Italian club.
Milan failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League and earlier this week, manager Gennaro Gattuso and sporting director Leonardo stepped down from their respective positions at San Siro.
Calciomercato now claims Leonardo wanted the Hornets star at Milan, but following his departure from the club, the operation could get ‘complicated’.
For now, Deulofeu is on ‘stand by’ and the player is aware that without the Brazilian, his dream of returning to Milan is fading away.
Javi Gracia’s side need at least €30m to give the green light for the attacker’s sale and Milan are yet to make a decision on him.
Should the new management at Milan decide to make an approach for the attacker, he is most likely to accept the offer, but without Leonardo, his chances are ‘falling sharply’.
