Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport had a look at Andrea Ranocchia’s future, and, even if he isn’t playing, a move to Hull City wasn’t what he had planned for his career at this stage.
The Italian newspaper claimed the Inter Milan defender had rejected a transfer to the Premier League club, yet Corriere della Serra on Thursday throw another team into the mix, one the 28-year-old might be more open to.
According to them, Watford are interested in Ranocchia, and the link between the two is very easy to figure out: Walter Mazzarri.
The Hornets’ manager spent a season at Inter Milan back in 2013-14, where he made the Italian defender one of his key players for the majority of his time there, and with the Serie A side rather keen to see the back of their former captain, a reunion could be on the cards.
No offer has been made as of yet, with Watford only reported as being ‘interested’ for now, but with the Premier League side currently struggling and ever so slowly sliding down the table, a new and experienced defender might just be what’s necessary to help turn their season around.
Hull are also mentioned, but considering Gazzetta’s report last week, we doubt they’re going to have much luck.
