David Alaba’s situation has turned into something of a drama, and it’s inevitable Manchester United are going to be repeatedly mentioned as part of it.

Whether interest from Old Trafford exists or not, the Red Devils will be dragged in to help add to the circus. FC Inter News have their own story on interest today, obviously looking at it from an Inter Milan perspective.

They say PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona are keen, and then state: ‘Watch out for the English’

According to the report, Manchester United and their neighbours City have been ‘pressing for some time’ over signing the defender.

Alaba’s contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season, and the Bundesliga club recently removed their renewal offer. That could all be part of a game, with this week’s edition of SportBild calling on top European clubs, with Manchester City named, to show ‘solidarity’ to Bayern and therefore not offer higher wages than they have.

The player is being portrayed as a money grabber, and there’s a chance Bayern’s tactics, which are likely designed to get him to drop his demands, may result in alienating Alaba from the club.

Whilst FC Inter News don’t mention it, the Milan side would have a distinct advantage given the lower tax rates on offer for high earners moving to Italy. That’s helped several switches to Serie A in recent windows.

Manchester United, for now, just seem like a club pulled in for added drama.
