Former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Patrick Cutrone has admitted he didn’t hesitate to accept a move to Empoli this summer.
The Italian returned to his homeland on loan earlier this month, the third loan deal he’s had since joining Wolves in 2019.
He initially moved from AC Milan in an €18m deal but has endured a hard time of things in the Midlands, with just three goals and four assists in 28 games to his name.
He’s spent the last year on two loan deals, first with Fiorentina and then Valencia, both of which have seen him struggle to regain his old form.
And he admits he didn’t hesitate to make the move and try to get the game time he simply wasn’t getting with Wolves.
“When I spoke to my agent, I immediately understood that this was the right place,” he told Il Resto del Carlino.
“In the last two years, I found little continuity, here I hope to find the confidence that I lacked.
“Empoli have shown they can stay in Serie A, and I hope to help them achieve this. Great players have passed through here, so I didn’t have any doubts in saying yes.
“I immediately said yes because I felt the trust of the coach and the environment; I needed this, and I didn’t really think about anything else. I wanted a club that believed in me, and I think I found it.
“I know that I can give more than what I did in the last two years, and I want to get back into the game, first of all for the team and then for myself.”
