Burnley were relegated from the Premier League last season and are aiming to return to the top division quickly.

The Clarets have appointed Vincent Kompany to help them achieve this feat and he arrived at Turf Moor in June, after two seasons at Anderlecht.

Kompany turned to Belgium to improve the Burnley squad in the summer window and one of the players to arrive at the club from that country was Anass Zaroury.

The Championship side signed the winger from Charleroi in the final week of the window. The Belgium U21 international has revealed how a call from the former Manchester City star made it easier for him to pick the English club.

“My agent arranged that, but then Kompany called me. That was not a long conversation, we understood each other immediately. It’s nice to hear that someone like him wants you on his team,” he said, as quoted by Het Belang van Limburg.

Zaroury has made two appearances from the bench in the league for Burnley. The 21-year-old’s aim is to feature in the Premier League with his current employer.

“We want to get back to the Premier League as soon as possible,” the wideman stressed.
