It appears that Manchester United are the journalists’ favourite when it comes to the next destination for Victor Osimhen.

The Nigeria international recently made it clear that his ultimate goal, despite excelling in Serie A, was to make it to the Premier League, which is great news for the Red Devils as they need a striker and so happen to play in that very league.

Should Erik ten Hag want Osimhen at Manchester United, with previous reports suggesting he does, it will be up to the club to convince Napoli that selling is the right move.

Aurelio De Laurentiis is very fond of his prized assets, and there have been claims that he could ask for as much as €150m for the goalscorer.

Either way, there are a few in Italy who believe Manchester United is the right next step for the Nigerian, starting with Luca Marchetti, who works for Sky Italia, relayed by Mondo Napoli, who said: “City have their striker, Arsenal could take him, but they generally focus on younger players. United need a striker, Tottenham too if Kane were to leave.

“Liverpool have signed Nuñez, but if you ask me where Osimhen can go, I’ll tell you that he can go to any of the top six in the Premier League. For what he is doing, he is destined to go and play in the Premier League and leave.”

This was echoed by Rai journalist Ciro Venerato, who spoke on 1 Station Radio, also relayed by Mondo Napoli: “I suppose that Chelsea and Manchester United are the clubs that, having the greatest problems in that area of the pitch, could be interested in the striker. I don’t even exclude the Parisian solution, with Mbappé always being sent to Madrid and a Messi who could wave goodbye.

“In June, I think there will be important developments, always considering the starting point of €150m. It’s a farewell that I would probably define as more than certain.”
