Calciomercato claim Tottenham Hotspur made an offer for Marcelo Brozovic ‘in the last days of the market’.
It wasn’t only Spurs said to have been keen on the Inter Milan player, Calciomercato also state Real Madrid had the player as an option in case they lost Luka Modric… to Inter.
Brozovic was keen to stay at Inter, according to the claims, and wasn’t interested in either potential move. This loyalty is set to be rewarded with a new contract, but it sounds self-serving for the Italian club.
Tottenham were indeed linked to Brozovic towards the end of the summer transfer window, but it seemed to be built on very shaky ground. There were English media claims of an offer, but they leaned on a report from Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport which didn’t actually exist.
As for Real Madrid, they had no intention to sell Modric to Inter and the Spanish media have repeatedly made clear how annoyed the club were with the Milan side. To think they’d consider selling Modric so much they’d target Brozovic doesn’t make sense.
This seems like an exercise to big up the player and Inter at the same time, with Tottenham and Real Madrid used as props.
