On Wednesday, Corriere dello Sport reported Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs that like Santiago Giménez. It was also stated the Premier League side have planned a summit with the Feyenoord star’s entourage.
Italian journalist Rudy Galetti took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that the north London club have already taken steps to try and sign the striker.
Tottenham haven’t yet signed a replacement for Harry Kane after selling him to Bayern Munich last summer.
Ange Postecoglou’s side will be looking to bring in a new No.9 in the next window and the 22-year-old’s name is included in their list.
Galetti claims Spurs have identified the Mexico international as their priority target and that the contacts with the Eredivisie side have been ‘going on for weeks’.
Giménez has scored 24 goals and registered six assists from 38 games this season and is also on the radar of other clubs.
If Tottenham don’t manage to secure his services, the journalist claims they will then shift their focus to Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson. The Icelandic international is a ‘concrete option’ for Postecoglou’s side, as a backup for Giménez.
On Wednesday, Genoa CEO Andres Blazquez warned it won’t be easy for Spurs or any other club to sign their star in the next window.
🚨🎯 #Tottenham are looking for a new ST to strenghten the attack.
📈 Santiago #Gimenez appears to be the priority: contacts with #Feyenoord are going on for weeks.
