Tottenham may need more than €40m if they wish to sign Genoa striker Albert Gudmundsson, with the club’s CEO again making his stance clear today.

Il Secolo XIX, relayed by FC Inter News, cover the player today and comments from Andres Blazquez, who has reiterated his intention to keep hold of the player this summer.

Gudmundsson has been impressing in Serie A this season, with 12 goals and three assists in 29 games to date earning him plenty of plaudits and admirers.

Tottenham are believed to be one of them, with various reports from Italy indicating that they are keen and thinking about a move in the summer.

Indeed, a report at the beginning of this month indicated that of all the suitors for the player, Tottenham are the ones moving the most ahead of the summer.

In the meantime he continues to impress in Italy and that’s only increased Genoa’s determination to keep him, particularly as he has a contract until June 2027 and they have no particular need to be forced into a sale.

And Blazquez has reiterated that stance, by confirming he turned down good offers in the January transfer window already.

“I said to Joe Barone : ‘I’ll tell you a price so you understand that we don’t want to sell it: €40m,” he said.

“We received the offer and it took me three minutes to say no, there I thanked him but said no. I know they insisted a lot with Albert.

“He came to us and I told him clearly: ‘You are too important for us. We can’t sell you, you give us the chance to get into the top ten and without we can’t get there.’

“He said he would stay here and once the transfer window was over he wrote me a message saying: ‘Ok Andres, now let’s make the top 10’.”
