Dele Alli’s great form recently has inspired some in the English media to ‘compose’ reports that the player could be set for a Tottenham exit.
Claiming to know the inner workings of Real Madrid, some in the English press insist Alli is the Spanish club’s top summer transfer target, and Florentino Perez will do everything to get him away from Tottenham.
Comfortingly for Tottenham fans, it hasn’t been picked up by the Madrid media. If Dele Alli was really target número uno then he’d be all over the Madrid press every day… he hasn’t even had a Marca front page yet.
Once the story is launched, nonsense or not, it still manages to filter across the European media, even if the Spanish media are largely ignoring it, and Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport asked Harry Kane if he’s scared of losing his Tottenham ‘twin’.
Kane has no such worry and explained to Gazzetta: “No. Dele is a fantastic player and Tottenham is right place for him, even if so many want him. We have a great future ahead and he is part of it, he has no reason to leave.”
Tottenham’s recent concentration on contract extensions means Mauricio Pochettino has a firm grip on his squad for the foreseeable future.
