With Gareth Bale back at the club, some may have assumed Tottenham were done with this transfer window.

The reality is proving to be quite the opposite, however, with it becoming evident that they want to add a striker to their squad before the window closes.

There have already been several around Europe linked with a move, the likes of Arkadiusz Milik, Haris Seferovic and Edinson Cavani among some of the names mentioned.

We can now add Willian Jose to that list, something that felt inevitable given the links earlier this year.

As you’ll remember Tottenham pushed hard to get him in the January transfer window but failed to agree on a deal with Real Sociedad, despite the striker’s best efforts to force a move.

There have been rumblings about a return for him ever since and AS stoke the fires a little, explaining that his agents ‘don’t stop’ in their efforts to get him out of Real Sociedad.

They, alongside Maldonado Investment Fund, which owns some of his rights, have been ‘trying all summer’ to find a suitor for him on the market.

They would prefer to send him to England and the Premier League and have ‘received interest’ from several clubs, including Tottenham, although none have ‘materialised in firm offers’.

The interest from these clubs has been passed on to La Real, who are willing to let him go and know that a departure is ‘closer and closer’.

Whether a real bid will arrive from Tottenham remains to be seen, but it would not be surprising in the slightest if this rumour is one we see start to pop up again and again in the coming days and weeks, particularly if Spurs cannot get a deal for another striker over the line.
