Earlier today, it was claimed that Tottenham were one of the interested parties keeping tabs on the situation of Mattias Svanberg at Bologna.

Spurs were reportedly ‘starting to get information’ about the player, and his agent was expected to travel to Italy to shed some light on his client’s future, which seems to be edging further away from the Serie A club by the day.

The news came from Calciomercato, but they aren’t the only ones giving us an update on the Svanberg situation, with Il Resto del Carlino, relayed by TuttoBolognaWeb, explaining renewal talks between the Italian side and their Swedish star ‘seem to have suffered a slowdown’.

That, supposedly, would be ‘following the strong interest of Tottenham’.

In fact, there appears to be a worry as a potential replacement has already been identified, with the newspaper pointing to Spezia’s Giulio Maggiore as the midfielder Bologna would turn to should they lose Svanberg.

From this, it appears Tottenham’s desire to sign the Swede are is far more than just some information gathering, and perhaps we could see some movement in the coming weeks?
