Now 34 years of age, Hugo Lloris is edging towards the back end of his career.

The Tottenham goalkeeper has been with the London club since 2010, and with a contract expiring next season, rumours have started to circulate the France number one could leave this summer.

These have been fuelled by AS Roma, where José Mourinho is now in charge, and their desire for a new goalkeeper, with Corriere dello Sport pushing the story on Tuesday.

They explain the Portuguese manager ‘appreciates’ what Lloris has to offer, having worked with him previously, and the Frenchman is one of the ‘two most followed players’ by the Serie A club for the role alongside Rui Patricio, currently at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

A lot will depend on who comes in at Tottenham manager wise, since the vacant job doesn’t allow Daniel Levy to do much on the transfer market.

The expected arrival of Fabio Paratici at the club could help in that regard, but if they cannot find an adequate replacement for Lloris, it seems unlikely they’ll sell their number one at the drop of a hat.
