Tottenham defender Cuti Romero has continued his small war of words with Kylian Mbappe, refuting the Frenchman’s suggestions that Euro 2024 will be harder than the World Cup.

MDZ cover comments from the Argentine defender today as he gets set to defend the Copa America with his country this summer.

The Tottenham defender is a key player for his country and was a part of the squad which triumphed in the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

They won that tournament thanks to a win over Mbappe and France in the final in one of the best World Cup finals in the long-storied history of the competition.

That game saw the Tottenham defender involved in one of the more controversial moments of the tournament, screaming in Mbappe’s face after the two had battled throughout the game.

That incident sparked an ongoing war of words between the two, who are clearly not fans of each other and are unlikely to ever be.

That’s led D Sports to ask Romero about recent comments from Mbappe, in which he indicated he believes that the World Cup isn’t even the hardest international tournament for him and France.

Romero is having none of that idea, although the Tottenham defender has decided to be a little less in your face with his approach this time around.

“They are each person’s opinions, they are respected,” he said.

“The World Cup is the most difficult competition that I have had to play in. I have had the possibility of winning all the competitions that I have played with the National Team.

“I cannot explain what that happens inside you when you win a World Cup. I think it is the most difficult, but each person can give their opinion what they want.

“Opinion is free and if for them other things are more complicated that is fine. For me the World Cup is the most complicated competition that I have had to play in.”
