Benfica only made one big sale this during the last market, which was the transfer of Ruben Dias to Manchester City in a €68m deal.

Due to the pandemic, the Lisbon side have been loaning out players and letting other clubs keep an option to buy them next summer.

And as reported by newspaper O Jogo today, Tottenham Hotspur are the club who, alone, could give the Eagles a bigger profit next year than what they made in the last transfer window.

That’s because Spurs currently have Gedson Fernandes and Carlos Vinícius in their squad. And if they decide to trigger both clauses, they’d spend €87.5m to sign the Benfica players.

It’s said Tottenham paid €4.5m to get Gedson Fernandes on loan back in January, and can now spend another €45.5m to make the transfer permanent. In Carlos Vinícius’ case, Spurs paid €3m for the loan and can buy him for €42m.

O Jogo writes that Gedson is in a ‘delicate’ situation, since Tottenham decided not to include him in their Europa League squad, and that makes his permanent move less likely. Regarding Carlos Vinícius, the striker still needs to prove himself, and they highlight the fact that it was José Mourinho who asked for his signing.
