Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has been convinced to join Tottenham, and Jose Mourinho’s side is now ready to offer the Italians what they want for him.

That’s according to Sport Mediaset, relayed by FC Inter 1908, who say that Spurs are ready to up their bid to try and get a deal over the line.

Mourinho has been chasing a new centre back for several weeks, and Skriniar is said to be at the top of his list, with him believed to be available after falling out of favour under Antonio Conte.

The two clubs were negotiating a deal, but Tottenham were reluctant to pay over €40m while Inter want €50m for their man.

That appeared to be a sticking point that neither could get over, with reports yesterday claiming that the deal was pretty much off and Inter chief Piero Ausilio adding to that last night by saying Skriniar would be staying at the club.

Sport Mediaset say differently, though, claiming that the centre back has been ‘convinced’ to move to the Premier League with Tottenham.

Indeed, so committed to the move that Mourinho ‘would be ready’ to make an new offer that would be close to Inter’s €50m demands.

The new proposal would be around €44m plus bonuses, although there is no mention of how high those bonuses would take the transfer to.

Inter’s stance isn’t mentioned but should the transfer materialise it would give them the funds to make a ‘last assault’ on Chelsea from N’Golo Kanté, who manager Antonio Conte is keen to sign.

The offer seemingly hasn’t been made by Tottenham as yet, but it seems they and Skriniar are keen to make it happen but, as has always been the case, it’s all about the money.

This time, however, the ball will be in Inter’s court.
