After trying over and over again to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea, Bayern Munich were unable to convince the Stamford Bridge side to let their starlet go.

The player signed a new contract in September until 2024, and there was hope he would integrate Frank Lampard’s new look side and get the minutes many feel he deserves.

However, the amount of arrivals at the club this summer, including that of Hakim Ziyech, suggests he’s not yet deemed fully ready, which has led to Bayern returning for his services.

They explain Hasan Salihamidzic ‘never removed’ the Chelsea man from his shopping list, and with Hansi Flick wanting a ‘fourth winger’ at the club, the Bayern bosses ‘want to fulfil his wish’.

Bayern aren’t looking to ‘spend large amounts’ on the player, but merely ‘borrow him’, which is exactly why attempts for Thomas Lemar and Andrej Kramaric failed as they were ‘too expensive’.

Salihamidzic sees the Chelsea player as an ‘absolute dream transfer’, having stayed in contact with the footballer’s brother and advisor since his club’s first attempts
