Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has been speaking to France Football about his managerial career and how he sees things going for him in the future.

Now managing New York City FC, part of the Manchester City family, Vieira is keen to learn from some of the best managers in football, rather than rely on his own playing career as a basis for coaching success.

One of the managers Vieira respects and is keen to learn from is Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino. In fact, Vieira holds Pochettino in such high regard that he would like to meet the Tottenham manager and learn from him.

The former Arsenal midfielder told France Football: “When the season will be finished here, I’m going to ask Pep if I can come by and see how he works. I want to go see other managers that I like a lot, like Pochettino, Klopp, Tuchel, I want to give myself the means to succeed, to learn the right things.”

With the MLS season set to end shortly, Vieira would be looking to gain experience in the time before the new season starts in March.

Tottenham will hope to be challenging Manchester City for the title, and inviting one of the wider group’s coaches into the realm may be considered a little unwise. Sharing secrets and advice with managers eager to learn is a positive thing, but maybe not so much in this case.

Perhaps we’re being overly suspicious and Tottenham should invite Vieira over, probably best to wait until after the January 21st match between Spurs and Manchester City though.
