Inter Milan midfielder Matías Vecino looks set to leave the club this summer, news that may be of interest to Tottenham.
The Uruguayan was heavily linked with a move away from the Serie A side in the January transfer window after falling out of favour under Antonio Conte.
Tottenham were one of the clubs linked with making a move, with several sources in Italy suggesting they were looking at the 28-year-old.
Ultimately he never moved, instead repairing his relationship with Conte so that Inter elected to keep him for the remainder of the season.
He’s ‘one of the most sought-after profiles abroad’ report the newspaper, who also add that that the Italian club are looking to make ‘a good sum of money’ from any sale.
They do not mention potential suitors at this moment but make it clear Tottenham were interested in January, which may be a hint they’ll be keen again in the summer.
José Mourinho will undoubtedly be looking for recruits in the summer, and it’s fair to say he’s been less than impressed by Tottenham’s midfield options since arriving at the club.
Vecino is the type of dogged, battling midfielder that could suit how the Portuguese manager wants his side to play, although it’s hard to imagine many fans would be excited about his potential arrival.
