There was a brief period of time where it seemed like Crystal Palace were going to sign Christian Kouamé.
The young striker looked all set to complete his move to Selhurst Park, and his agent has since come out and made it clear ‘everything was done’, further confirming the Ivory Coast international was meant to play under Roy Hodgson.
One document was missing, and that, coupled with a bad knee injury, led to the transfer never being given the green light, with the player eventually signing for Fiorentina instead on loan.
He has yet to play for his new club has he recovers from his cruciate ligament injury, and with the Serie A season currently postponed, who knows when he will make his debut?
In the meantime, the 22-year-old sat down to answer some questions on his Instagram page, during which, relayed by Fiorentina.it, Kouamé was asked about his missed transfer to London.
He replied: “It wasn’t my destiny to go to Crystal Palace. At Christmas, myself and my girlfriend went to Florence, and she told me she wanted to love there. Destiny, as one month later I was a Fiorentina player”.
