Unwanted at Tottenham, Sergio Reguilón was shipped out on loan to Atlético Madrid until the end of the season.

There was hope the player could improve his situation by getting some minutes under Diego Simeone, but that hasn’t been the case, with injuries causing him to miss valuable time and a potential chance of being a regular.

The good performances of Reinildo Mandava also haven’t helped, but with the 29-year-old now out for the rest of the season, this could be time for the Tottenham loanee to shine.

It’s worth pointing out that Reguilón is currently injured, but Estadio Deportivo explain that he is expected to return in ‘mid-March’.

He’s described as the ‘forgotten signing’ for Atlético, since he’s barely played, but Reinildo’s absence ‘opens the door’ for the Tottenham man, and he will have ‘the opportunity to fight’ with both Mario Hermoso and Yannick Carrasco for a starting spot once he’s back from his own ailment.

This could be good news for Tottenham, as they will want him to play as much as possible, but it ultimately comes down to both the player and his ability to convince Simeone he should be given a chance.
