Loaned to Marseille seemingly as part of the Georges-Kevin N’Koudou to Tottenham deal, Clinton N’Jié hasn’t really enjoyed his return to French football all that much.

The Cameroon forward has, in the past, missed some key chances to help his team gain points, and according to L’Equipe on Sunday, the player was placed on what you could call ‘the naughty step’ by Rudi Garcia.

The French newspaper reported prior to the game against Caen at the weekend that the former Roma manager had already made a few decisions on the squad at his disposal, and the Spurs loanee was in the ‘hasn’t impressed’ group.

They say N’Jié ‘isn’t all that interested’ in the project Marseille have to offer currently, even with the change of owners now official, and everything points to a return to Mauricio Pochettino White Hart Lane when the season comes to an end.

However, it’s worth pointing out that, despite all of this talk before the game, the player will have gained some brownie points come Sunday evening, scoring the last goal in a 3-0 thumping of Nancy, which propelled Marseille into the top half of the table, closing the gap on Lyon and European spots.

N’Jié’s situation will be a concern for Tottenham. The last thing Spurs and Pochettino want is for the player to return next summer after a disappointing loan. Hopefully the goal can be a trigger to turn everything around.
