Ever since José Mourinho took over at Tottenham, the London club have been interested in Nicolo Zaniolo in some shape or form.
Following his impressive start, the Italian star has had something of a rollercoaster relationship with AS Roma, where he has done well, although injuries have stopped him from fully developing as expected.
Despite his importance, there has always been a feeling the Serie A side would sell if the right offer came in, and this summer is no different, as the 23-year-old continues to be a target for Tottenham.
This time, it’s Antonio Conte who’s in charge of Spurs, making them a slightly more attractive destination for Italian players, but the Premier League club will still have to meet Roma’s demands; something they have yet to do.
This offer is ‘very far from Roma’s requests and if the formula of the offer doesn’t change, there will be no possibility’ for him to leave Italy’s capital.
Meanwhile, down their end, Mourinho’s side are looking for a centre-back, with work being put in to try and sign Dan-Axel Zagadou, but Gazzetta point out that we should ‘keep an eye on Tottenham’s Tanganga, especially if something changes for Zaniolo’.
Could he be inserted in a deal for the Italian? That’s certainly what they seem to suggest.
