It’s no secret that Napoli will be trying to keep manager Maurizio Sarri in charge of the club for next season.
The campaign which is keeping the club in the battle for the Serie A title has given the boss a lot of attention, which also means some big interest in taking him out of Italy.
Website Calcio Mercato has a story about it, saying Sarri has been getting several calls to work in different places next season, and there’s a special attention to clubs from London.
Although most of the interested sides don’t have a guaranteed manager for the next season, it’s interesting that the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both on that list.
Calcio Mercato claims that the Gunners and Spurs still don’t know if Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino will be in charge of their clubs next season, so they are also considered as heavy competitors for the signing of the Italian manager.
Sarri himself doesn’t want an adventure in some random league, so this Premier League and Champions League opportunity is exactly the kind of job that would attract him in case he leaves Napoli.
What both Arsenal and Tottenham would have in mind is that Sarri’s €8m release clause can be activated until May 31st. After that, his contract goes back to ‘normal’, so he’d be harder to get.
But would Wenger or Pochettino be gone from the clubs before that date? We really, really doubt it. And that’s what makes this story a bit hasty.
