Chelsea have been encouraged to consider bringing Thomas Tuchel back to the club, by Bild.
The German is at Bayern Munich and will leave them at the end of this season. There will be no change in this case even if the Bavarian club win the Champions League.
Tuchel doesn’t want to take a break and will immediately return to the bench. He prefers to return to the Premier League, where he had a spell at Chelsea between January 2021 and September 2022.
The 50-year-old helped the Blues win the Champions League in 2021 and was shown the exit door a year later, after the club was taken over by a Todd Boehly led consortium. Despite this, he feels more appreciated in England than in his own country.
Bild ask whether a move back to the west London club could be on cards for him. Mauricio Pochettino is currently in charge and Chelsea have struggled under his orders. They are ninth in the table, trailing fourth placed Aston Villa by 19 points.
It’s claimed Boehly has the ‘chance to correct the worst decision’ of his tenure so far and replace the Argentine with Tuchel. Since the latter’s exit, Chelsea have struggled and had three managers so far.
The report also relays comments made by Tuchel after leaving the Premier League side.
“I am devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end. This is a club where I felt at home both professionally and personally. I feel honoured to have been a part of this club’s history and whatever the future holds for me, the memories of the last 18 months will always have a special place in my heart,” he said in 2022.
Bild question if that sounds like a ‘great love’ for the club and can it be soon rekindled or will he take up a new challenge at, say, Manchester United.
