On Tuesday, Rádio Itatiaia reported West Ham United director Tim Steidten made a trip to Brazil to watch Corinthians’ Wesley Gassova live in action against Atlético-MG.
It was also said the Hammers official was accompanied by the 19-year-old’s agent, Clóvis Henrique, at the stadium.
West Ham United are keen on signing the winger if Os Donos da Bola, relayed by Band UOL, is to be believed.
Former Brazil international Neto was a guest on Os Donos da Bola and he revealed the Premier League side have ‘made a proposal’ of R$80m [€14.5m] to the South American club.
Neto has urged Corinthians to cash in from the youngster’s sale to David Moyes’ side.
“I wouldn’t just sell him, I’d take him on a donkey and at the airport I’d upgrade him to first class and take him to West Ham,” he said.
Neto doesn’t mention whether the Brazilian club have accepted or rejected West Ham’s offer for Wesley.
Over at Meu Timão, they state West Ham’s offer is around €15m for 80% of the player’s rights. As of now, Corinthians own 70% and the rest is with his representatives, who are willing to give up 10% of their share.
However, Meu Timão say Corinthians have ‘turned down’ West Ham’s proposal, without mentioning the fee they need to sanction Wesley’s sale.
Meu Timão makes it clear this is their own information and add that two other, as yet unnamed, English clubs are also looking at the attacker.
