Earlier on Friday, we covered a couple of articles regarding Andrea Radrizzani’s attempts to buy Salernitana from Claudio Lotito.

One of them was an interview with Leeds United board member Sandro Mencucci, who confirmed the owner of the Elland Road club had made an offer for the newly promoted Serie A club.

Talks had taken place with Salernitana co-owners Claudio Lotito and Marco Mezzaroma, but they hadn’t heard much back of late, which didn’t bode well.

Since then, Tommaso D’Angelo, a journalist close to the events currently taking place, told Radio Marte, relayed by Area Napoli, the latest on the situation.

He said: “There’s a lot of tension. The Leeds owner is negotiating the purchase, he expected a white smoke that didn’t arrive. The hypothesis that takes hold is that of a trust that would allow Lotito to continue to be at the helm of Salernitana. The air is tense in Salerno today.

“The FIGC offices close in the afternoon. I think that around 3pm the situation will be cleared up (it isn’t), and unless there are twists and turns, the most rational thing seems to be that of a trust. The FIGC rules are very rigid and Gravina has raised the wall. Now it’s up to him to choose. The right hand man of the Leeds owner has clarified what the project would be, but now we have to wait”.

And wait we will, but it appears that Radrizzani’s attempts to buy a second club alongside Leeds United, perhaps in hope of creating a Watford-Udinese style bridge between the leagues, could fall at the last hurdle.

The Elland Road owner has done wonders with the Yorkshire club since taking over, and we’re sure a number of Salernitana fans will have been keen to have him to be their new man at the helm, perhaps hoping he could do something similar with their local team.
