On January 30th, Nottingham Forest’s Scott McKenna completed a loan move to Danish side FC Copenhagen until the end of this season.
The defender has less than six months left on his deal with the Tricky Trees and Bold reiterate he’s obviously already played his last game for Nottingham Forest.
He made five league appearances this season and didn’t feature in the Premier League since September.
The Scotland international played regularly for Nottingham Forest until the end of last season and he’s disappointed not to have ended his time with them on a positive note. Speaking to the Danish outlet, he said it wasn’t easy for him to be on the bench.
“It was difficult. In those three and a half years I got close to a lot of people who were all around me and supported me when I wasn’t playing,” he said.
The 27-year-old explains Nottingham Forest wanted to bet on other players after deciding not to extend his contract.
Two months ago, reports in England stated the centre-back’s lack of minutes was down to a dispute between the English club and his agent.
On this subject, McKenna explained: “I can’t say much about that. It can happen in football that owners and agents do not always agree. But for me, my priority was always to keep myself in the best shape. If I was asked to play at Forest or somewhere else, I would be ready.”
Bold immediately asked him if there was a ‘conflict’ between his representative and Nuno Espírito Santo’s side over his contract.
Responding to that, he said: “I have nothing to do with that. It was a matter between my agent and the club. Whatever happened, it had nothing to do with me. I just focused on playing football the whole time.”
