Burnley forward Darko Churlinov is in talks over a return to Schalke, with all parties waiting for the German side to make an offer.

That’s according to his agent Mehmet Eser, who has confirmed to Sky Germany that Burnley and Schalke are negotiating over the forward.

Churlinov has long been linked with a return to his former club, having endured a miserable time at Burnley since joining them from VfB Stuttgart in a €3.5m deal in August 2022.

He was set to leave in the summer and return to Germany but that move ended up being cancelled as he ended up in intensive care with blood poisoning, which saw him spend 133 days out injured.

He’s since battled back to full fitness but hasn’t managed a single appearance for Burnley this season, with it made clear he’s very much not a part of their plans.

Several reports over the past few weeks have indicated Schalke would welcome him back with open arms and a deal is there to be done, something his agent has now confirmed.

“Yes, there is a plan to return in the winter,” he said in comments relayed by journalist Florian Plettenberg.

“Talks are ongoing between Schalke and Burnley. But we don’t know why Schalke still hasn’t sent an offer. We are waiting. Darko is ready for Schalke! It’s not up to us.”
