Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund could be set to do battle for Tottenham’s Eric Dier as he looks to leave before the end of the transfer window.

That’s according to BILD, who say Dortmund have joined the developing race for Dier’s signature and ‘would like to sign’ him if they can.

The newspaper explains that there could be another tussle set to develop between Bayern and Dortmund after they also competed for Southampton’s Armel Bella-Kotchap also.

They’re now keen on Dier as they target a central defender and the Tottenham man fits the bill, particularly as he is also adept at playing in midfield.

The belief is that he could strengthen two areas at once and that is valued, while a deal would not be difficult to do as Dier is not playing a role under new Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.

That’s what has attracted Bayern also, with them currently searching for a replacement for Benjamin Pavard as he nears a move to Inter Milan.

Dier is on their list but the positive news for Dortmund is that their rivals are focusing on a move for Chelsea’s Trevor Chalobah instead.

He’s a player that Thomas Tuchel knows well from his time in charge at Stamford Bridge and it appears he would prefer to sign him rather than Dier if given the choice.

That gives Dortmund their chance to step in and get their man, with a departure from Tottenham increasingly seen as certain at this point.
