On Wednesday morning, the Spanish media came up with surprising claims saying Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be on his way back to Barcelona.

It was first said that the player feels “depressed” by missing La Liga, and then claimed the Camp Nou side are already checking if they could potentially afford his wages.

His return, however, is now ruled out. That’s reported by Mundo Deportivo, and the reason is the number of transfers the Chelsea player has been involved in this season.

Aubameyang had played for Barcelona before he was sold to the Blues. Now in case he makes a return to the Catalan side, he’d be registered for a third time in the same season, and that wouldn’t be allowed, even if it’s the same club.

Mundo Deportivo even quotes RFEF’s rules which talks about the player being registered three times in the same season, and claims La Liga have it ‘clear’ that he couldn’t feature for Barcelona now.

So despite the initial excitement about a potential strange move, that’s now ruled out, with Aubameyang more likely to stay at Chelsea, where he has three goals in 15 appearances this season.
