While they may have spent big on some first-team players over the summer, Manchester City also planned for the future rather nicely with some young acquisitions.

The arrival of Leroy Sané and the future transfer of Gabriel Jesus are just two of them, but another is ready to make a name for himself, after his loan to Deportivo La Coruña.

Brought in from Atlético Nacional in Colombia, Marlos Moreno, was swiftly sent to Spain to develop and get some game time.

With three appearances under his belt, the left-winger is slowly getting used to his new environment, and spoke to La Voz de Galicia about his transfer to City, which he didn’t believe would ever happen at first.

Furthermore, his family had no idea where he was going.

He said: “In my family, they don’t know about football. My mum didn’t know who Manchester City were. I had to explain to her the importance of this, and the only thing she wanted was for me to be happy playing football and let me know she was proud of me.

“My brothers were the same. They started taking an interest in football when they saw I was playing and I brought them to the stadiums.”

With a long season ahead, and plenty of opportunities to grasp, it might be worth for City fans to keep an eye out on his progress in Spain over the course of the season.
