Leaving Leicester City during the summer transfer window for OGC Nice, Kasper Schmeichel was meant to have a good time in the south of France.

However, it hasn’t quite gone to plan just yet, with the player struggling to find form and criticised in the media for matters on and off the pitch.

We’ve covered a few of them, with a report from L’Equipe in September describing his start to the season at Nice as disappointing, at best.

Then came claims from RMC Sport that Schmeichel arrived from Leicester overweight, and wasn’t complying with team rules, such as meeting times.

This was further backed up by L’Equipe on Saturday, who reported something similar, suggesting the 35-year-old wanted to change some rules at OGC Nice, like making breakfasts ‘optional’.

Not only that, but they also added that an exit in January ‘isn’t to be excluded’.

All of these reports led to Jean-Pierre Rivère, the French club’s chairman, to come out and defend his summer acquisition, stating he was ‘shocked’ about what he had heard, and that Schmeichel was abiding by the team rules, ruling out an exit from the club in the process.

Despite all this, Jeunes Footeux in France claimed on Sunday that a return of the Denmark international to Leicester ‘clearly isn’t to be excluded’, as the player is ‘in contact with his former club’, with the idea of a move back to the King Power Stadium ‘brought up’.

That being said, they do add that ‘there have not been any real discussions’ about this topic, as Schmeichel ‘wants to give himself more time and has a primary goal of adapting in Nice’.

We must also not forget that, following the poor performances of Danny Ward, who has now conceded 24 goals in nine Premier League games, reports on Friday from Poland made it very clear that Leicester were close to sealing the deal to bring Bartlomiej Dragowski from Spezia in January.

There’s a lot to process here, but the gist of it is that the Foxes need a new goalkeeper, and options are seemingly being looked at.
