It’s fair to say that Kasper Schmeichel’s decision to leave Leicester City in the summer is not one that’s paid off for him so far.

The 35-year-old brought an end to an 11-year spell with Leicester in the summer, electing to depart for Nice in a deal worth £900,000.

He left the Foxes as something of an icon of their modern era, having racked up 479 appearances for the club and playing a key role in the Premier League and FA Cup successes.

He is now an internationally recognised name alongside his father and thus arrived in France with a huge reputation and plenty of expectation.

Things have not been going well at the Ligue 1 club, though, and RMC Sport say he may have contributed to that.

They explain that he ‘stood out’ upon his arrival at the club as he had a ‘very high body fat index’.

In other words, he was overweight.

It’s hinted that might have led to him being left out of the first team by manager Lucien Favre, something that didn’t go down well with Schmeichel or his entourage, who were quick to contact Jim Ratcliffe about the situation.

There has also been an issue with the former Leicester man violating the ‘rules of life of the group’, such as meeting times, which have annoyed certain parts of the locker room.

This follows other reports about Schmeichel’s start to life in France, with it recently explained that he has not managed to get anywhere near the expectations the club had for him when he arrived.

All in all, it appears things are going a little disastrously for Schmeichel, who may be regretting his decision to move, even at this early stage.
