Early on Tuesday we covered claims from Belgium that Watford were on the verge of signing Dodi Lukebakio.
The 20 year old had been on loan at Charleroi from Anderlecht and, according to Belgian reports, had become something of a nuisance. He’d been disappointing on the pitch and hadn’t bought into the club’s values.
In short, Lukebakio didn’t seem greatly appealing to Watford. But the deal happened, and it’s no surprise to see Mogi Bayat announce it on his Twitter feed.
Bayat is an increasingly important figure in Belgian football, with the agent involved in many transfers. Anderlecht Online point out he’s taken Obbi Oulare, Stefano Okaka, Sven Kums and Lukebakio to Watford.
Leander Dendoncker could potentially be the next one.
Anderlecht Online lean on claims from Sky Sports that Watford could make an offer for the midfielder, but it was actually DH in Belgium who first launched the story three days ago.
The 22 year old midfielder was said to be interesting Watford, who were considering making an offer for him.
The independent Anderlecht website believe ‘master fixer’ Bayat could be used to solve the Dendoncker case too, and perhaps sort out a last minute transfer. That could be too late now, simply because of time constraints, but perhaps there was more to the Lukebakio transfer, a move of goodwill.
If it helps Watford get Dendoncker, now or in the summer, many will consider it worth it, whether the Premier League club can polish their rough diamond (we’ll be kind) Lukebakio or not.
Bayat doesn’t represent the player but works closely with Anderlecht, which could be more important.
